stoneboat vineyards philosophy

2005 Nebbia

20-year-old vines have helped us develop this heritage six-varietal blend.  Floral notes accompany honeydew melon and citrus aromas. Fresh peach, apricot & tangerine are dominant on the palate with hints of pink grapefruit and lemon zest on the finish.

We named our blend ‘Nebbia,’ which is Italian for ‘mist,’ for the mist that drifts from the Okanagan through the Home Vineyard (where our heritage varietals grow) on cool autumn mornings.

Grower's Thoughts: "We use six varieties to create as complex a white blend as possible that is versatile- with food or for sipping. Each variety, with its own characteristics, creates a multi-layered wine.stoneboat nebbia white wine

Due to the distinct varieties we are using, this wine will always remain a unique blend. The age of the vines (most are 20+) further contributes to the wine’s richness. I started out with these vines when I began grape growing, and I feel a loyalty to them. In their old age, they are gnarled and stooped, but they have supported our vineyard and family throughout the years and they now produce grapes of a higher complexity."- Lanny Martiniuk
