A long cool fermentation in tank for our Orchard Grove Pinot Gris and a combination of barrels and a stainless steel fermentation for the Home Vineyard & Maggie May. In early February, these two wines were blended together with 3% of the volume fermented and aged for 4 months in neutral French oak and 97% in stainless steel. Bottled March 9, 2017.
The long, warm growing season produced a golden hued Pinot Gris with bruised pear skin and red apple aromas on the nose, mixed with creamy lees. The palate reflects the same flavours as detected on the nose. A rich, juicy palate offers orange zest, pear, leesy/nutty characters, with a long pleasant finish, ending with a slightly banana taste at the very end.
