This notoriously difficult grape is well suited to our vineyards’ calcareous soils and dramatic night/day temperature shifts of up to 30º C. Sensitive in the vineyard and temperamental in the cellar, our Pinot Noir creates beautiful wines when handled minimally and gently.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Bold but delicate, this wine offers concentrated red fruits scented with earthy spice. Layers of violet, green tea and rich currant flavours linger on the palate, with silky tannins offering up a deliciously smooth finish. Balanced acidity and sturdy structure ensure that this Pinot will cellar well.
Production Notes
Multiple small-lot fermentations of five clones from two vineyards were key to maximizing the complexity of the finished wine.1100 cases produced

I briefly sampled this pinot noir in the tasting room and bought a bottle only to discover it is now hard to find, on account of winning the Lieutenant Governor's Award. I distinctly remember the green tea flavour and amazing service at Stoneboat, making it my new favourite winery.

This is not pinot noir. It's Burgundy. It's not Burgundy. It's Okanagan. It's not just Okanagan; it's Stoneboat. This wine properly expresses the winery's earth and soil thru Pinot Noir. Earth, mushroom, tea, fresh strawberry and cranberry. Definitely as good as any village wine from Cote de Beaune or Nuit. Truly amazing if you happened to appreciate cold climate Pinor Noir

This farm kid from SK purchased a 2011 bottle because of the stoneboat name and my rock picking past. I really enjoyed the wine and would recommend it. Gave 4 stars because I'm not a wine expert but WILL buy it again.

I have been a avid consumer of Stoneboat's PN since '08 vintage, which I feel was an extraordinary wine. I tend to lay them down as these wines are, as a previous review mentioned, Burgundian in nature, and are definitely not just a fruit forward PN. I sampled a bottle of the '12 from a case recently, and the vintage is in keeping with the complex nuances of Stoneboat's previous PN vintages. A subtle fore palette of tree fruit with an earthy back palette of mushrooms, moss and even truffle. A beautiful pairing with Salmon or fowl. I'll stay away from the '12 for a couple of years unless my inventory of older vintages runs low. One of Canada's top flight PN's. Keep up the great work.

It was the clip from Sideways on "Why we love Pinot Noir" that catch my attention. I'm typically a Chardonnay lover - the oaker the better, but just had to order a case of this Pinot after listening to one of my favorite scenes from Sideways :) No regrets, in fact I'm now a Pinot lover or at least Stoneboat Pinot lover! So smooth and full I've enjoyed every sip so far!
