So much for regular updates! It's been a busy spring up until this point, as we prepare our 2006 Pinotage for bottling. The 2006 vintage looks to be outstanding and even better than the '05 Pinotage, with a lovely dark fruit driven palate supported by good oak structure and supple tannins. We are currently offering "pre-release" samples of the wine, which should be released in early July. The wine shop is now open seven days a week from 10:30 to 5:30 pm (although we'll usually stay open a bit longer on busier days). Liana and Tim hope to see you sometime over the summer. Stay tuned for updates on our '07 whites- and I will indeed update this time around!

On February 7, Stoneboat will be pouring wines at the South Okanagan Winery Association's Kitchen Party in Vancouver. This event pairs some of BCs finest wines with canapés from many of Vancouver's finest restaurants. We're really looking forward to it and hope to see you there! To download the evite, click here. In other news, we are offering free shipping on remaining 2005 wines: Nebbia and Pinotage. The order form can be downloaded from our purchase page and faxed back to 250.498.2226- or you can give us a ring at the same number. Stay tuned for details on our 2006 Pinot Noir release in February, along with the release of our 2006 Verglas, a very special dessert wine made from our oldest Oraniensteiner vines, and our Kerner Late Harvest.

We are currently offering complimentary shipping on full case orders of our remaining 2005 wines, including Nebbia, Pinotage and Pinot Noir, for destinations within BC and Alberta. Sunday, September 24

After an exceptional August we have trimmed our hours by a bit for the fall season. We are now open Tuesday-Sunday from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm (althought the closing time is pretty flexible). Tim, our more than full-time wine shop guy, has gone back to school for the fall, so Julie, Lanny and Leslie (wine pourer and pianist extraordinaire) are filling the void, while getting ready for harvest. This Sunday, folks can find Stoneboat at the Festival of the Grape in Oliver, where we'll be pouring our 2005 Pinotage and our 2006 Nebbia, which has not yet been released. Hope to see you there!

Monday, August 13

Our wine shop is now open for tastings and sales. After some delays and a lot of work, we were able to complete the building's interior and open our doors for the BC Day long weekend. The reception to the wines so far has been phenomenal, and we would like to thank all who have stopped by. Special thanks are in order for the trades people who have worked long hours to help us open as early as possible.

We are currently offering samples of all our wines, however, the Faux Pas rosé is now in much shorter supply than it already was (we are down to 7 cases). The tasting bar and wine shop are open daily through August into the beginning of September from 10:00am to 6:00pm.

I write this as I watch the rain pour down on the Home Vineyard. Showers have arrived smack in the middle of an early bloom, which could reduce berry set this year. The rain also helps plants to grow faster, which is good, as long as they don't grow faster than we can keep up with them! When the rain falls, all we can do is watch until things dry up a bit, then we can resume shoot thinning, suckering and weeding.Stoneboat Vineyards Wine Shop

Fortunately, work on our wine shop continues rain or shine. The new windows are in, electric is in progress and our doors will be installed Friday. Until we're open, we would be happy to ship wine to anyone interested in purchasing it, or we can supply direct at the winery. Give us a call or send an email.

After some working out some kinks in the website construction and finally getting most things online, we are once again updating the site. Our email system is now functional and we apologize for any inconveniences that may have resulted from its being offline these past weeks.

Spring so far has been relatively dry and especially warm, but with notably cool nights. We have been on edge some evenings in early May waiting for the frost alarms to go off. Lanny has spent a few nights turning on the wind towers and water to protect the lower lying areas of the vineyard. Things are warming up day and night now, and it looks as though bloom will be early this year. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the weather will stay dry and hot for it.

Things are busy as ever at the vineyards, with suckering, shoot thinning and mowing taking up most of our time as the plants take off. The construction of the wine shop is also taking up a lot of our time, but things are moving along at a steady pace. If all goes well we hope to have the shop open in mid-July. Until then, we encourage anyone who is interested in purchasing our wines to give us a call at 250 498-2226 to book an appointment. Please do refer to our retail and restaurant page for a list of LRS's and restaurants that carry our products.
