Pinotage 2007

Winner: 2009 Lt. Governor's Award of Excellence

Despite its origins in South Africa, the Pinotage grown on our vineyards creates a wine distinct from its counterpart overseas- and from other reds grown in the Okanagan. Because of its mixed parentage of Cinsaut and Pinot Noir, we like to think that the vine's Rhone ancestry helps it thrive in the heat, while its Burgundian roots suit it well to our rocky soils and cool nights.

One might call the 2007 Pinotage more "serious" compared to its predecessor, yet it is every bit as rich with bright, bold fruit flavours. Aromas of spiced plums, chocolate and toasty cedar are followed by an intense, rounded palate supported by fine, intriguing tannins. We're very pleased with this vintage.
