Verglas 2007

Harvested at -15ÅC, the totally botrytis-affected fruit for this dessert wine makes Verglas both rare and exceptional

Cursed by some, noble rot is a welcome natural phenomenon in our 26 year old Oraniensteiner block. The concentration it induces and the flavours it contributes to the fruit lead to spectacular dessert wine. We harvest and press at colder temperatures than most icewines require, because the berries are already sugar-laden and will not freeze easily. This ensures maximum concentration.

Verglas is a luminous, golden wine, with notes of melon, pineapple and spice on the nose. An intense palate of tangerine and dried stone fruit flavours is punctuated by fresh, bright acidity.
