Harvested at -15C, the totally botrytis-affected fruit for this dessert wine makes Verglas both rare and exceptional
Cursed by some, noble rot is a welcome natural phenomenon in our 26 year-old Oraniensteiner block. The concentration it induces and the flavours it contributes to the fruit lead to spectacular dessert wine. We harvest and press at colder temperatures than most icewines require, because the berries are already sugar-laden and will not freeze easily. This ensures maximum concentration.
Verglas 2008 is a luminous, golden wine, with notes of spice, honey and orange zest on the nose. Fresh acidity plays an essential role in giving lift to the rich, sweet stone fruits and citrus on the palate.
