A delicate yellow colour with a slight green tinge to it, tropical fruits leap out of the glass, along with honeysuckle and floral blossoms. Pineapple and cantaloupe melon round out this well balanced, medium bodied Pinot Blanc.
The Pinot Blanc was picked on two separate dates. The earlier fruit came in at a lower Brix and carried more acid with green apple flavours, while our second pick, benefiting from the longer hang time, leaned toward a more pineapple characteristic with a small percentage of Botrytis adding to the richness of the palate. A small percentage of Müller Thurgau was blended in to give the wine a bit more personality.
This wine shop exclusive is named for Alessio, our family's longtime Italian friend. This old-vines Pinot Blanc offers aromas of honeysuckle and green melon. It is medium bodied with peach and pineapple flavours and refreshing acidity. It has a long, dry finish with hints of citrus.
